A wooden-furniture plant exhausts 40,000 m3/h of coating-booth air at about 28 C with lacquer vapour. EN159 recovered heat to preheat booth make-up air.
The Challenge
Coating booths needed warm make-up air. The exhaust carried lacquer vapour, so recovery had to keep streams fully separate.
Why Plate Air-to-Air Recovery
For solvent-laden coating exhaust, plate sensible recovery is used with separated streams. A rotary wheel is excluded because it would move lacquer vapour into the supply.
The EN159 Solution
EN159 BXB plate module, 40,000 m3/h, make-up air preheated from 6 C to 21 C, solvent-resistant plates and prefilter.
Measured Results
- Recovered heat: about 0.3 MW
- Make-up air preheated from 6 C to 21 C
- Heating cost cut by 35 percent
- Estimated payback: 19 months
Compliance and Selection Notes
Sensible-only plate recovery, separated streams, no rotary wheel. Lacquer vapour not recirculated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why separate streams?
To stop lacquer vapour reaching the supply air, which would foul the booth and risk safety.
Maintenance?
Prefilter and periodic plate cleaning; no rotating parts.
